GuaiLife Guaifenesin
The motivation behind creating GuaiLife was to have
guaifenesin that disintegrated quickly and completely. I had found a
significant number of patients in my practice were unable to achieve
consistent results when using some brands of sustained release (SR)
guaifenesin also known as timed-release, extended release (ER) or long
acting (LA). This lack of results was due to disintegration problems of the
tablets and the FDA has since taken the defective products off of the
market. GuaiLife, on the other hand, is an immediate release (IR) tablet
that disintegrates quickly and completely in only several ounces of water,
ensuring its availability for absorption*.
Additional Ingredients
GuaiLife also contains a small amount of calcium and magnesium carbonate.
These are well-known intestinal phosphate binders when taken with meals.
This means that some phosphate is bound up in the intestine and is then
eliminated in the stool, thereby reducing the phosphates absorbed into the
body. The amount of calcium and magnesium is small but when take over a
period of time the effect may be significant. The excipients are calcium
carbonate, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium carbonate, maltodextrin,
povidone, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid and magnesium silicate.
Hypoallergenic:
The excipients we included in GuaiLife are hypoallergenic and contain no
phosphate or lactose.
Product Use:
GuaiLife makes no claims in relation to the treatment of conditions other
than mucus thinning. The use of guaifenesin or GuaiLife to treat the nonplus
conditions is considered an “off-label use”, meaning that guaifenesin has
not been proven to help nonplus conditions according to the FDA. Therefore,
it is advisable that people consult their own physician if they have any
questions in relation to the potential effects of using GuaiLife."
