The Four
Therapeutic Approaches to Treating Nonplus Conditions
There are many ways to treat the nonplus conditions and
many books have been written on treating chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia in
particular. Unfortunately, the methods that these treatment use are rarely
if ever examined. When treatments are helpful it is for one of four reasons.
1.
Lifestyle improvements. This includes everything from eating a
better diet to stress management to getting enough exercise. Lifestyle
improvements are a way of optimizing health and are helpful for anyone or
any condition whether they have a nonplus condition or no health problem at all.
2.
Managing symptoms. Managing symptoms for temporary relief can be
very important when pain or other problems make life difficult. Managing
symptoms is often done with medication, a massage or a bag of ice. Altering
lifestyle is another way to manage symptoms. For example, sleeping
up to 10 to 14 hours a day is a way to manage chronic fatigue for some
people. Avoiding all physical activity may be the only practical way to
manage the pain of fibromyalgia during a flare up of symptoms. These two
examples of altering lifestyle do not belong in the lifestyle improvement
category because sleeping this much and avoiding all physical activity can
hardly be called a lifestyle improvement.
3.
Treating unrelated conditions. There are many health problems that
cause symptoms similar to symptoms caused by the nonplus conditions. For
example, a B-12 deficiency can be a cause of fatigue and taking B-12 when a
deficiency exist will usually result in decreased fatigue in anyone whether
or not chronic fatigue is present. This does not mean that B-12 is a
treatment for chronic fatigue, it just shows that a B-12 deficiency should
be corrected under any circumstances. Unrelated and sometimes overlooked
conditions frequently contribute to the symptoms of the nonplus conditions. Common examples of conditions that contribute to the symptoms of the nonplus
conditions include hormonal imbalances, subluxations, thyroid problems,
trigger points, yeast infections and reactive hypoglycemia.
4.
Directly treating the cause of the nonplus conditions. I do not
believe that there is any treatment available that directly treats the
nonplus conditions except for guaifenesin. Only with guaifenesin have
thousands of individuals been able to resolve all of the symptoms caused by
the nonplus conditions. This indicates that in some way guaifenesin is treating a core part of these
problems. Because of this guaifenesin is fundamentally different from other
treatments and provides a fourth treatment method, that of treating the
underlying cause.
